Kettlebell Swing - Master Clinic

Anthony DiLuglio teaches the kettlebell swing at a kettlebells clinic. Great three part series for kettlebell beginners.

Video Clips:

I am Anthony DiLuglio, owner of Punch Kettlebell Gym in Providence, Rhode Island and creator of the “Art of Strength” DVD workout series.  This article is a follow up to the Perform Better “Kettlebell 101” introduction in which we spent a lot of time explaining some of the basics of kettlebell training.  This time, I want to focus in on mastering the kettlebell swing.

We recently hosted a clinic for budding kettlebell trainers at the Gold’s Gym in South Boston.  The video clips we captured for you contain some great examples of different body types and a variety of common swing technique problems.  I encourage you to watch them all and immediately practice what you see.  If you don’t yet own a kettlebell, try these moves with a dumbbell.  It won’t be exactly the same as a kettlebell, but you should begin to “feel” the concept.

Why spend so much time on the kettlebell swing?  The swing is the most fundamental drill in all of kettlebell training.  The hip drive, focus on core (front and back), and use of momentum are key elements of many more advanced kettlebell drills such as the snatch, clean, and jerk.  If you haven’t mastered the swing, you won’t perform any of those drills correctly.

So, spend some time absorbing these free video resources brought to you by Perform Better, purchase a kettlebell or two, and watch this training zone for our next free video training series focused on the kettlebell clean and snatch.  You can also find more free tips and videos in my "Minute of Strength" newsletter, published every two weeks.  The subscription is free and you can sign up immediately below.  Just enter your name, email, and click "Submit".  Be sure to make mos@artofstrength.com an approved email sender.
